At 73, Nanay Mila still has the energy to dance her Sto. Niño image to the beat of drums and doesn’t tire out. A dancing troop passes her by, grabs her Sto. Niño and danced around it. Nanay Mila leaps in to their circle and frolicked.
She is just one of thousand devotees at the Grand Procession of Nuestro Señor de Sto. Niño held in Pasay City on January 29, 2023. The event is a culmination of a 10-day celebration of the feast of Sto. Niño held for the first time in this city.
Participants from around Metro Manila and nearby provinces packed the streets from Pasay City Hall to Roxas Boulevard displaying their Sto. Niño images in varying representations.
The Sto. Niño festival is celebrated in different parts of the country every January in honor of the Child Jesus which is believed to have miraculous properties.
