Filipino climate campaigners join an Asia-wide protest rally against major Japanese banks’ continued funding of oil and gas projects. Climate activists from the Asian Peoples’ Movement on Debt and Development (APMDD), Philippine Movement for Climate Justice (PMCJ), Sanlakas, Oriang, and K4K call on financial giants Mizuho, Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG), and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corp (SMBC) to end financing of oil and gas projects and the adoption of greener alternatives. The protest was held at the Ninoy Aquino monument in Makati City, June 27, 2023.
