Academics, students, and church members formed a human chain along Taft Avenue in Manila, September 19, 2025, holding candle-light prayers and calling for action against corruption.

The protest was organized by One Taft and came amid mounting public outrage over alleged misuse of funds in government flood control projects.

The corruption issue centers on allegations of billions of pesos earmarked for flood control since 2022 that have been misspent or lost to projects which were reportedly substandard, undocumented, or so-called “ghost projects.”

The human chain extended along the stretch of Taft Avenue, with simultaneous protests taking place from Finance Road to Kalaw Avenue near Sta. Isabel College, as well as along P. Faura Street to Pedro Gil Street near the Philippine General Hospital.
